9/8/05 The Web site looks great,
thanks so much for doing this.
Becky and Jim;
It is great to be able to connect with other people that are on the same wave
length with housing families and other evacuees! Good to hear form you and I know that it will be good for the families as
well as they will need support from others going through the same things as them. I am sure we can set up a suuport group
via email for them as well through this.
It will take some time for some of the victims of the hurricane to realize that there is nothing to go back
to and that it will be best for the good of there families to get on with their lives. When that happens, I think that we
will see more and more of the families wanting to be placed here. When that happens, we will be here to support them in there
effort to move forward. God Bless you all for your generousity as this will not be easy! BKe7560341@aol.com
Let me know what I can do to help - you continue to TOTALLY AMAZE ME!!!! What you are doing is incredible. I
almost said "surprise" me but that would be an understatement - if there is a need, I know you are always there.
Keep up the great work and let me know, who, what, when and where I can help. Lynn; lynn.butler@bartoncenter.org
Hello all. Please include us, Carol and John Esposito, in your network of folks who have
offered housing to the survivors of Katrina. We would love to be in the loop for info as to how things are working out,
whether anyone has contacted you all, etc. Thanks and Peace.. The Espos carolesposito57@hotmail.com
Happy to hear from you Dennis and I am delighted you have put the time and energy into this! A networking program
will surely be of great benefit so count me in... Thanks so much! Lois Williamson FullCircleFarm@comcast.net
I have placed my name on a list with the salvation army...via the phone. I have also gone to openmyhome.com and attempted to list my name there as well...however they ask for your email address
and PASSWORD>>required.
This made me nervous and therfore did not complete their application. If I have registered with the salvation army then can I assume that my name is "out there" for the familes in need?
Thank you for all you are doing...
looking forward to talking with you....if you need any help..please let me know. thank you again, banner steiman Bannerds@aol.com
ed note: The answer to Banner's question regarding the salvation army (unfortunately)
is probably not. I'd suggest additional calls be made such as the one that is on the home page.
Hi, Thanks for working on this. We are just waiting to hear at this point. Thanks, Lynda (The coyle family;
coylefam85@excite.com )
Hi dennis im rick lawrence from Plymouth ,MA I feel you have a great
Idea and back it 100%. If there is anything I can do to help out in any way please Mail me
9/9/05 HI Dennis You sure are undertaking a lot. Good
for you. I am John Silva and I live on the Vineyard. I doubt anyone would want to come over here, but I do have
one bedroom in my house that is not being used. A couple or whatever. My sister and niece live with me and we
have 4 dogs. Just wanted to let you know. Thanx John dersonsilva@verizon.net
ed note: John, we may all need a trip to the vineyard in the months to
come!
Thank you! I think you have a great idea! Donna Cote & family dmc61761@hotmail.com
Dennis what your doing is great, In keeping us all informed and answering questions most of us have. I
Also think that the other families who offered their homes, as well as their lives to the people in need, is one
of the greatest acts of kindness that I haven't seen in a long while. Rshmari48@aol.com
ed note: thanks for the kudo. It's the little things like this and the one's above that
keeps everyone going. Keep the faith.
Thank you for taking the time to make contact with me. I feel the networking idea is great, please count me in!.........as
time goes on and more people find themselves actually providing housing, support from each other will not only be helpful
but necessary. I'm happy to see that so many people in Massachusetts are willing to open their homes. It's nice to know there
are so many generous people out there. Sincerely Charlene cnewell@harland.net
9/10/05 Keep me on the list. I will let you know if we are able
to help any of the victims. Thanks, Maryanne Little mjlittle529@hotmail.com
And Great Idea. I Agree w/ suzeee it is nice to see the compassion in our own back yard. I will check out the
site :). Roni-E@comcast.net
Thanks for the email, and for keeping us updated on what is going on! I read the success stories, and have decided
to post on Crag's list as well. Stay in touch, and thanks for all you are doing for the people in need, as well as supporting
us.
Sylvia Frenette, Lynn, Ma. slyfromsi@aol.com
Thank you for this effort, do you have any contact with Cape Code Camp, can you send them there our email and contact
info. Thanks, Joyce & Kaled kh.chicopee@gmail.com
Ed Note: I had contacted the Red Cross Chapter on the cape to see if they would post this web
site at Otis as well as provide additional information. Am awaiting a response. The ARC information is; American
Red Cross Cape Cod Chapter 286 South Street Hyannis, MA 02601 508-775-1540, http://www.capecodredcross.org
Thanks for contacting us...all of your planning sounds great. We are in Scituate and hopefully we can be of some help.
My husband takes the boat into Boston during the week if that helps one of the evacuees/possible college student. Keep us
posted on anything we can do. Cheryl cn6669@yahoo.com
Thank you for taking the time to make contact with me. I feel the networking idea is great, please count me in!.........as

9/11/05 In response to the original email (part 1) on starting a network we heard from Anne Strickland
anne@greatamericanpicture.com Sounds great. Thanks!!! and
also Eileen Christiansen (Part 2) pantsie@gmail.com I did sign up to offer Katrina survivor housing
on KatrinaHousing.org and I would love to participate in your network. I know that MA is far away from LA,
AL, and MS, but I figured we could help out if folks who might be staying at the military base on the Cape might be looking
for temporary housing.
Thanks so much for organizing this, and keep me in the loop if anything develops!
I am happy to help. Keep in touch, and let me know what I can do. Joan Perkins joanp@jdapos.com and
from Gail we heard; I did register but I have not heard anything from anyone. At least
I'm happy to know my posting is on line. I think networking is a great idea. If you should get a family, etc., or anyone else
gets a family, it would be good to know what others can do to support them.Gail gailwag@comcast.net
This is a great idea and one which, I think, will provide to be a great resource. Please
let me know if you need any help and if you get any information regarding housing, etc and I will do the same. I was
personally moved when I added my name to the list and saw the # of people who have offered help. If you haven't checked
out the New Orleans Craigs list web site, you should - it is utterly amazing. Again, let me know if there is anything
I can do. Maisy Yeager zarekhunter@msn.com
Thanks for contacting us, Dennis. Would be thrilled to hear from you- Paula Fontaine and family IWillSurvive@comcast.net
Pamela Becwith offered the following advice:
You really should include something in your subject line..I suspect most people will delete your email! No one has responded
to our housing request. How about you? smilingcoyote@hotmail.com
Ed. Note: Pam took your advice on the 2nd email about the database creation but I suspect that
one may have also simply been deleted. Sort of funny when I read it as some might have expected the punch line to be
send money to an account in Zambonia.... Luckily there are quite a few responding and I suspect more that have gone
to the web site. Now, if we can just get the coordinating authorities to go there!
If we do actually have the priviledge of hosting a family I think a support group would be good for them and for
us. Keep us posted. Nancy Robbins KRob573257@aol.com and then in a follow-up message to the US Senators; There is a large contingent of MA residents who have signed
up online to assist the Katrina survivors with housing. Most of us have heard no response, and have also been told that
FEMA etc. does not know of the internet efforts. We have all pledged to help out in any way we can, but have been frustrated
by the lack of response. Now that we have survivors in our state, we would like to participate, but we have no way of
knowing if the organizers are aware of our existance. We would appreciate your assistance in getting the word out to
the people who need it.
Ed Note: When contacting congress or local politicians feel free to send them a link to this website
so they can get a picture of just how many of us are involved. I did note in the T&G Sunday 9/11/05 that Kennedy
visited Otis and Kerry with his wife Theresa were loading up on "stuff" to personally bring to the NO area. Maybe while
he is there, if enough of you email him, he can bring back some people with him or at least the direct contact names.
Thats a great idea. I would love to be involved. I haven't recieved any responses as of yet, have you? Ana
anaplanet@yahoo.com
Ed Note; Not yet Ana. But if any of u are contacted send an email along on the situation
and circumstances!
I have not heard anything back since offering my home. It is frustrating when you watch the news and you want to help
but cannot. I am quite open to doing what I can. I also have a large family base in Barrington and Bristol, RI
that would also do something. Thank you again, Melissa
Mbcalador@aol.com

Thank you for contacting me. I think
a support group is a good idea. Throwing people together to live can be stressful to all parties. I remember many
of times living with roommates and basically interviewing to rent a room. However, I don’t think in this instance
we can do that, with the added problem of people being displaced. So having a support group going for all sides I think is always a good idea, in these types of scenarios.
With that said, I haven’t heard
anything. I have had my house available since last week and no call. I have a friend that is visits and is close
to a 7,000 evacuee shelter in Louisiana and who knows the mayor. I sent her the links to the housing site. I also
told her my home was open to family of 5 or less. We made pseudo arrangements of getting anyone to my house, for her
to drive half the way and I would drive half and meet them.
But no takers, so far. Unfortunately, in the news I heard that the 2,500 evacuees
are not coming to the base on the cape right now. They don’t even know if they will come. Many evacuees
want to stay close to there home and not go 1400 miles away. This is what I thought would happen when I offered to put people up. Thinking I am too far
away for anyone really needing a place to stay. That they would want to stay close by and who wouldn’t want to
stay close by for now.
But I guess time will tell.
Anyway, you can count me in, if anyone
comes.
I second everything Angela said. You can count me in as well, if anyone comes up here. Thanks for taking
the time to do this. Best Wishes, Patricia Herr tindacity@rcn.com
Whatever I can do!! heather READER1231@aol.com
Good goin with the info and connectivity! I have placed several postings on different sites and um short of going
bonkers, this will bring things a little tighter, which is a great relief!! It's nothing short of naturally awsome to
see so many ppl being this compassionate! Suzzee357@aol.com
For those of you who have had evacuees to host: What advice would you give to all of us
who are still waiting? What questions should we ask? Are background checks necessary? What info should we provide?
Any help would be appreciated? Thank you Maisy zarekhunter@msn.com
Ed Note: Maisy aside from some earlier information sent to you there is now A link on the FAQ.
A special thanks to katrina on ARK NE for sending the link.
The website is a great idea and I would like to receive any further e mails that you get. I'm not computer savy as they
say so of what help I can be I truly don't know. Well keep me informed and thanks so much for coming up with
this idea. Kelly Santoro richard_s_01747@yahoo.com
my name is Sharon Brown. Myself and my husband signed up in numerous places to provide shared housing. I just wonder
if there is any way to make sure that the registrations have been received as there have been no other responses-is there
anyway to check to see if there are people interested-I read something about a profile but can't find a site to check.
We are so glad that you have done this for Massachusetts to get the offers out there. swelc1@aol.com
not sure if you know about this, but Maggie Drennon, from Cannan, is also coordinating a great effort for families with
a similar spirit in the berkshires and the capital region of Albany. Maybe you want to coordinate with her as
well to join both initiatives, I think both are taking a great shape. Memo mbenumea@yahoo.com
Ed Note; Memo, yes I did send along some emails to Maggie and directing her to the web site.
Haven't received any inquiries but I am sure, like us, she is knee deep in coordination.
9/19/05 I took a look at your website. When this first happened, I thought how I wished we had room
to take in someone from out there. Unfortunately due to the size of our apartment and financially, we could not do it. Anyone
who can do it and is, is to be greatly commended. It is an awesome thing you are all doing.
9/21/05 - well, I, for one, spent all last weekend going through clothing
to give to "Josh" or "Adam" from New Orleans, yet...when I wrote that I had clothes...no response at all.I was wondering where all the good-hearted people were myself.
rick bankhead rickbankhead@comcast.net p.s. I have a nice evacuee-student who is living with
me and going to B.C. I still have a bunch of XL clothing, if anyone needs them.
Ed Note: This convesration came about on the Yahoo Forum when I started to wonder about waining
enthusiasm
9/22/05 - first of all i am not from the USA i live in Barbados one of the most develope country in
the Carribean. i had to enter MA state to get my information through.... we in the Carribean and right here in Barbados
Cried as we watch helplessly the suffering the people went through and continue to go through with Katrina....... i offered
housing to a family who want to get away for a vacation to the carribean to just recover emotionally from what happen
so suddenly in their live. please let me know if we can help someone.. Shirley Griffith shir_grant@hotmail.com
Dennis: Ok, I'm willing to stay on the list for now. Thanks, B. baslaw@aol.com
Ed Note: Barbara was one of three who choose originally not to be involved in a network.
Recall, the 1st email that went out.... THe respondents, at that time, did not know anyone on the list and decided
not to be part of the network. Since that time some of us have become web "buddies". I am glad to see that Barbara
has chosen to stay.
10/03/05 ; God Bless You
for your efforts way above and beyond!!!!!! Mkathivkelley@cs.com
Ed Note: I am always happy to hear the comments from the network.
The real credit goes to all of you however who have made the step of offering shelter and assistance. Even though many
of you are disappointed that contact was not made - take faith in knowing that you took a very humanitarian step.
